Talesman pointing with a glow behind the headFor this winter:
fancy text saying Underworld Journeys
A scholar ponders over a curious volume of forgotten lore; The Goddess Inanna visits the ancient Sumarian kingdom of the dead; A Norse princess is wed to Prince Hat Under The Earth; A door in the ground gives access to the Celtic Otherworld where Gwyn Ap Nudd dwells with the fairy host and an African beauty is taken into a tunnel by the moles.

From the earliest times and across all cultures the kingdoms that lie beneath our feet, beyond our breath or behind our eyes have held a deep fascination for us. The journey in to darkness has been taken as readily by the scribes and storytellers of yore as by Edgar Allen Poe.

Join The Travelling Talesman as he plunges into Night's Plutonian Shore with atmospheric, engaging and witty tellings of myths, legends and folktales from the bowels of the earth...
...Now is that a Raven tapping at my chamber door?

The Travelling Talesman can select stories to suit the theme of your choice.
For Site Specific work new material can be researched or a Guided Story Walk created.
If you have no theme in mind book an existing Story Set:

Dragons
All manner of large scaly beasts pour out their baleful breath on your venue. Fortunately there is usually a plucky seventh son or handsome hero on hand to rise to the challenge.
Expect: old kings, wicked step parents, magic weapons.
Extreme Peril (especially for local maidens)

Romsey Beggars Fair
Talesman's Choice for Romsey Beggar's Fair
Clever Girls
Lateral thinking and saving kingdoms is all in a days work for your average goose girl and being smart is always handy for keeping the menfolk in their place.
Expect: impossible riddles, outwitted husbands, fishnets.
Mild peril.
Annual spooky Tales at Lackock Abbey
Spooky tales for Lacock Abbey (National Trust)
Norse Gods
They might be Gods but they just keep running in to trouble, even when they stay at home there's always some dreadful giant or dwarf trying to get hold of Freya or steal their treasures. Thor, Odin, and the gods of Asgard struggle with the forces of evil to keep the Nine Worlds safe. And then there's Loki...
Expect: giants, a hammer, eagles.
Apocalyptic peril.

The Talesman entertains a group of walkers in Leigh Woods, with stories and Lyre
Celtic Magic for an Iron Age Hillfort
Giants
They are big but they're not clever, which is just as well. Send for a boy called Jack or possibly king Arthur. (Beanstalks will not be featured in this set unless specifically requested.)
Expect: dodgy eating habits, clubs.
Significant peril.

Filkins Feast
Medieval tales for Filkin's Feast
Tales From The Forge
Celebrating the skilful artisan. They can bend metal to their will but can they get themselves out of trouble?
Expect: rippling muscles, the devil, wings.
Medium peril.

Or take The Talesman's Choice.

Each telling is a unique performance crafted from the traditional tales told to our fathers grandfathers and our great-grandmothers mothers.
